For this weeks Adventure Video I was at Adventure Mountain! Vanessa Garcia, one of the professional guides in the area, as well as a fellow blogger for Awesome Adventure News, took me on an experience that I will never forget. Starting over the rope bridge I was thinking to myself, "Okay, I can handle this." But as I approached the extreme Via Ferrata section of the course I knew it was going to be a challenge!
Adventure Mountain is one of the many venues we offer here at BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN. It will have you crossing a suspension bridge, traversing up and around a mountain by via ferrata, and riding the 400 ft zip line to the bottom! This activity is based on the Via Ferrata model, an Italian word that means 'iron road'. The origin dates back to the nineteenth century, but it is strongly associated with the First World War, when several were built in the Dolomite mountain region of Italy to aid the movement of troops. Over the years this technique has transformed into a popular nationwide sport.
